Revisions

After you have completed your manuscript and before you publish it there comes a point when everything you’ve written needs to be checked thoroughly. This can be a very tedious and stressful phase, especially with a deadline looming. As the author, you may also lack the detachment necessary to consider your own manuscript with an objective eye. Writing may be a lonely activity, but it is also always an act of communication. That’s why it helps to expose your manuscript to the gaze of an outsider so that your writing can be the start of a conversation.   I can specifically help you to:

  • check whether what you wrote is what you meant to say;
  • proofread your manuscript according to the four-eyes principle;
  • find out whether all parts of your manuscript are clear;
  • check the consistency of your arguments and structure;
  • make sure your bibliographical information, citations, and illustrations are consistent;
  • improve your writing if German is not your native language.

My copyediting suggestions are intended as feedback. After I return your manuscript, it will require your, the author’s, final revision. With my services and support, I strive to help you help yourself. I will never change the content of your manuscript but may ask questions to help clarify your meaning or suggest a different phrasing in order to improve distinctness and precision. All proofreading corrections (spelling, grammar, punctuation) will be marked clearly and require final confirmation by the author after the manuscript is returned.
